Taft Street Garden

bullet imagebullet imageTaft Street Garden located at 7233 S. Taft St, Seattle WA is an open garden for the community.  Please help contribute with your time.  If you do not have time, we accept money to help defer costs for compost dirt, seeds, and other expenses while you can still share with the produce.

Absolutely NO CHEMICALS are allowed in the garden.  This is meant to be a natural garden with beneficial bugs in a sustainable system.  Other than that we are not imposing rules except general courtesy with fellow gardeners.

Note: We do NOT own the lot except that 5 feet are go with 7237.  It's owned by a bank that failed in the real estate downturn of 2009.  It's possibly owned by Bank of America now, but records are not clear.  Because of this, the garden can be SHUT DOWN at any time.  We have no control over this.  However, rather than having an empty lot, we thought it would be fun to use it for the community until it is sold.

ALL Natural ORGANIC

You are welcome to stake out an area in the garden not already used, however you must agree to never use chemicals, GMO seeds or anything else that would make it non-natural, organic type planting.

Absolutely no Round-up or any Monsanto products what so-ever.

Bugs, bees, birds, mushrooms, and micro-organisims are welcome and encouraged. We are striving for "Living Soil", not chemically controlled.

THE RIGHT WAY

There’s a lot of buzz about sustainable farming, and we couldn’t be happier. We’ve seen how much richer the soil is when we control weeds, pests and disease without toxic chemicals. We’re pretty sure it makes our harvest taste better, too.

Bees: We are planning a bee hive in the garden, please contact us if you have concerns or allergies to bees.

Contribute

All over the country people send to stick to their own homes.  Hopefully this community garden will get neighbors outside working together towards a common good of growing.

Please contribute your time, money or both to share in the harvest.  We are not trying to make money, just cover our cost of compost, seeds, garden beds, etc.  email gardentaft@gmail.com if you want to contribute time or money, or you can just show up and get involved.
